Ready 4 Rugby? Clarity on acceptable numbers and Intra-Club matches

Stage C – Ready4Rugby & Questions

As you all may be aware, the RFU were able to announce the progression from Stage B to C recently, enabling clubs to now play Ready4Rugby in addition to the non-contact skills based group activity at Stage B, which forms part of pre-season training usually.

Guidance on acceptable training activity is provided in the ‘Guidance on Restarting Competitive Grassroots Rugby’, which can be accessed here. We would encourage coaches and clubs to share their best practice with others. If you have any questions or need clarity – then please forward your question on to the club support email address: clubsupport@rfu.com

One question that has cropped up a number of times already is surrounding ‘intra club’ fixtures, whether this is allowed? Answer below, which I’m sure a number of Clubs will find useful…

‘20 players maximum, therefore the RFU would recommend to keep players in the same bubble. So the 10 would play the same 10 and not another team This reduces the risk of transmission so if there was a positive test / infected player only 19 people would need to isolate rather than 59.’

Subject to satisfactory operation through August of Ready4Rugby, we hope to be able to move to inter-club Ready4Rugby in September. Other Touch Rugby activity (including O2 Touch centres) will also be able to recommence.
