🏵️ East Midlands U14 Girls Cup Final 🏵️
The weather certainly helped provide a great display of rugby in this year’s East Midland U14G Cup Final at Ampthill between Ampthill and Old Northamptonians.
The game started as a cagey affair with Ampthill keeping pressure on in the ON’s half but ON’s jumped into the lead in the first half with turn over ball and their 10 running the length of the field to score under the posts 0-7.
Ampthill controlled the ball for long period to come back into the game with Olivia scoring out wide 5-7, the following conversion dropping just short. Ampthill then exerted sustained pressure for Grace W to score close to the posts with Liv adding the extras 12-7. With a much needed break at half time ON’s camped in the Ampthill 22 for a good deal of time but Ampthill fought their way back down the pitch and were awarded a penalty in ON’s 22.
Liv kicked for the corner and Ampthill opted for a full lineout with River scoring the resulting pushover try 17-7. ON’s scored quickly after the restart with a quick break from their 8 and popping the ball off to finish, 17-12. This lead to a tense final 10mins and Ampthill held out as 17-12 winners.
