Heading into this match, both Gloucestershire and East Midlands were undefeated so this game promised to be a hotly contested match and it didn’t disappoint!

Assistant Coach Neil has this to say:

‘East Midlands U18 Girls lost only their second match in the last 6 seasons.

Playing with a strong wind to their, their backs made a positive start with E Wright scoring out wide. Gloucestershire came back strong scoring two tries and converting one. The wet and windy conditions making good attacking rugby difficult for both teams.

A Preeces work rate never drops and she was rewarded with a try which she also converted, 12-12 at half time.

Second half Gloucestershire played better to the conditions and the officiating, scoring again. This East Midlands team is full of dynamic players and even though the injury count was high drew level 17-17 with L Gomersall scoring.

With 15 to go Gloucestershire intercepted and from the next phase scored, conversion took the score to 24-17. EM probably played some of the best rugby in the last 10 minutes but were unable to convert the pressure into points.

Some standout performances from the captain E Fosbeary, C Harvey H Rolfe and R Docherty who age out this season , best of luck wherever you play next.’

Despite the U18s finishing their final game with a narrow defeat, they have performed outstandingly throughout their three matches!
